A reputed remedy since the days of Ancient Egypt, black Cumin (Nigella sativa) is today the subject of much research, particularly in the cancer field. The oil obtained from pressing its seeds contains an active ingredient, thymoquinone, reputed to inhibit the proliferation of cancerous tumours by blocking their process of neovascularisation (problematic growth of new blood vessels at the back of the eye). Studies carried out into melanomas and colon cancer have shown its benefits in supplementing chemotherapy.

Black cumin oil Nigella sativa commonly called blessed seed oil is virgin oil extracted by the cold pressing of the seed of nigella (different from more common white cumin). This oil, originally from Egypt, is analysed to define its content of thymoquinone, which is the determinant active for its anti-carcinogenic activity. Other analysis are carried out to guarantee its purity and stability. Nigella oil undergoes a fast rancidification process due to its structure in fat acids. The production process in capsules together with vitamin E preserves its quality, preserving it from air oxygen and light.
