| Hyaluronic acid is a component found throughout the body. It is therefore essential for healthy body tissues, such as connective (cartilage ... heart valves) or epithelial tissue (skin). It is also fond in the inner ear liquids, the vitreous humour of the eyes and even in the essential synovial fluid in the joints.
If the villagers of Yuzurihara in Japan (also known as the "village of long life") currently are known to have the longest life expectancy, it is because their bodies are able to maintain a steady rate of hyaluronic acid over time (probably due to a very specific food). That rate usually decreases in the body with age, which causes the skin to age, rheumatism and other joint problems, together with eye problems, such as the retina degeneration.
Numerous studies over the years have highlighted the positive aspects of hyaluronic acid food supplements to improve the skin's health. This effect was expressly recognised by the US authority who issues the marketing authorisations food supplements (the FDA, equivalent to the AFFSSA in France).
