Health claims

Vitamin B6 contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity.

Pantothenic acid contributes to normal synthesis and metabolism of steroid hormones, vitamin D and some neurotransmitters.

Pantothenic acid contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

Folate contributes to normal amino acid synthesis.

Riboflavin contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

Growth hormone is involved in various bodily processes: it increases protein synthesis, muscle mass and stimulates growth. Its secretion begins to decrease after age 30, resulting in tiredness, increased body fat, and reduced muscle mass and strength.

To stimulate secretion of growth hormone, improve athletic performance and combat fatigue, we have developed Somatrop, a protein shake rich in amino acids (L-citrulline, L-ornithine, glycine, L-Leucine, L-isoleucine, L-valine, L-tryptophan) and highest purity whey protein isolate (ISOLATE), to increase muscle mass.

Our Somatrop also contains Lalmin® B-Complex Vitamins, an inactive dry brewer’s yeast rich in B group vitamins that help to reduce tiredness and fatigue, and to regulate hormone activity through its vitamin B6 content.

It also includes dry extract of fenugreek seeds (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) with standardised steroidal saponin content, molecules that help increase testosterone levels, completing Somatrop’s stimulating and regulating effect.

Detailed information

Growth hormone, or somatotropin, is a polypeptide hormone consisting of 191 amino acids. This hormone is secreted by the pituitary gland and exerts various actions on the body: it stimulates growth, increases protein synthesis, is hyperglycemic and lipolytic, promotes the transport of amino acids and stimulates production of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), stimulating tissue growth (1).
Secretion of this hormone can be stimulated by multiple factors, such as exercise, sleep, oestrogen or protein-rich foods, but after age 30, it begins to gradually decrease into old age (1).

Somatrop helps counteract the effects of a decrease in growth hormone (tiredness, loss of muscle mass and strength, changes in cholesterol levels etc.) thanks to its high purity whey protein isolate content, together with amino acids (L- citrulline, L-ornithine, glycine, L-Leucine, L-isoleucine, L-valine, L-tryptophan), Lalmin® B-Complex Vitamins inactive dry brewer’s yeast, a natural source of B vitamins, and dry extract of fenugreek seeds (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) with standardised saponin content. Its fat-free cocoa powder content and fructooligosaccharides contribute to Somatrop’s pleasant taste and palatability.

Together with these amino acids, Somatrop provides L-citrulline, L-ornithine, glycine and L-tryptophan, helping to promote protein synthesis and increase the release of growth hormone to blood due to the oral ingestion of amino acids (3,4). Arginine is also obtained from L-citrulline, an amino acid that can stimulate the release of growth hormone (4).

Dry extract of fenugreek seeds has standardised steroidal saponin content, and an increase in levels of testosterone and its bioavailability have been observed after consuming it (5), as well as increased release of growth hormone (6).

Finally, inactive dry brewer’s yeast is a natural source of the B vitamins involved in Somatrop’s regulating and stimulating action, due to these vitamin’s properties, which contribute to normal energy metabolism, reducing tiredness and fatigue, and to normal synthesis and metabolism of the steroidal hormones, regulating hormone activity (7).
